Graduating cum laude, Johnson received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University in 1996. Since becoming Board Certified with the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC) in 2003, he has filled a myriad of professional roles including Critical Care Specialist, Co-Head of the Emergency Department, and Head of the Emergency Department in veterinary centers across the United States.
For his contributions in the field of veterinary science, Johnson was awarded the VCA Intern Teaching Award by VCA Veterinary Referral Associates in 2007 and the Small Animal Continuing Educator of the Year by Western Veterinary Conference in 2010. He is a longtime member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Feline Practitioners, the Veterinary Emergency/Critical Care Society, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
In addition to his professional accolades and achievements, Johnson is also a dedicated husband and father to three children. He is a movie buff, music enthusiast, and avid reader. He also loves to cook. A true animal lover, he currently resides in Plainfield, Illinois (after relocating with his family from Carmel, Indiana) with his 3 dogs, 2 cats, parakeets, and countless fish.
